Dear Mrs.Koroshetz,
We are very fortunate to have library filled with books, computers, and a large area for studying purposes. However it is not being used to its full ability. Not everyone is allowed to use the library. Students aren't allowed to used the library and its resources during free periods such as study hall and lunch. We are only allowed to go if we are given a pass from a teacher during a regular class. Students should be able to access and use the resources of the library with ease.
The library would be a great place for students to study, do work, research, work on projects with groups or even just read. Without a specific pass, students can't do any of these things that boost their knowledge and grades. Not everyone has access to a computer and printer at home. Study halls provide a place to do work but they don't offer the same resources that the library does. Librarians and/or teachers should continue to enforce rules and give out consequences to those who abuse this privilege and misbehave. Even if we are granted this power, it shouldn't be abused.
The library is one of the biggest rooms in school. It shouldn't be wasted. We should maximize its capabilities and allow students to have access to it. It would be very beneficial to the school and its students.
Please think over this and allow students to use the library.

Books Are Knowledge
When you think of books you normally associate it with learning and knowledge. Books are the key to knowledge. In order to learn more people would need access to books. This is the purpose of public libraries.
75% of Americans say it is “very important” for libraries to offer books for people to borrow. Americans check out an average of more than seven books a year. They spend $33.56 a year for the public library – about the average cost of one hardcover book. Some books can be high-priced and buying large amounts can be pretty costly. However people that use libraries spend an average amount that is equal to the price of only one hardcover book. Americans spend more than twice as much on candy as they do on public libraries. Libraries provide means of reading to people without access to books. 95 percent of Americans ages 16 and older agree that the materials and
resources available at public libraries play an important role in giving everyone a chance to succeed. Even if you don't read for fun normally, just knowing you can borrow books is very beneficial.
A new study shows that kids read for fun less and less as they get older, with 45% of 17-year-olds saying they read by choice only once or twice a year. Imagine if kids didn't have access to books. Then this number would very likely be much lower. Americans check out more than 2 billion items each year from their public libraries; the average user takes out more than seven books a year. 95 percent of people say that public libraries are important because they promote literacy and a love of reading. Being able to use a library would help people to take out that average of seven books a year. Having libraries in school would encourage these kids to read and give them the ability to.
Our school is fortunate to have a library full of books. So why aren't we allowed to check books out and borrow them? We have librarians and shelves full of books. Why not put them into use for the benefit of us students. 80% of Americans under age 30 say it is “very important” for libraries to have librarians to help people find information they need. Without internet, books would be the number one source for research. Books provide some thing you can't find on the internet. Not being able to borrow books is like our cafeteria continuing to cook food but not selling. We should make use of what resources we have and use them to best benefit our community.
